The IAB AI Ad Gap Widens report documents a substantial and growing perception gap between how advertisers think consumers feel about AI-generated ads versus how consumers actually feel.

Why this matters: This is direct quantitative evidence that consumer acceptance of AI content is DECREASING as AI quality increases — the opposite of what the simple "quality threshold" hypothesis predicts. The widening of the gap (32 → 37 points) from 2024 to 2026 is significant because AI quality improved dramatically in the same period.
